Counterfeit IGET devices circulate widely in Australia. They are the reason some listings are dramatically cheaper than others, and they are worth avoiding for reasons well beyond flavour. Here is what to check.
1. The flavour card
Genuine devices ship with a printed flavour card showing the flavour, model and batch. The card, the sleeve and the device should all agree. Mismatched names, or no card at all, is the fastest tell there is.
2. Print quality
Look closely at the text. Authentic packaging is sharp and evenly printed. Counterfeits routinely show blurred edges, slightly wrong colours, uneven spacing or spelling errors — the kind of detail that is expensive to fake and cheap to skip.
3. The seal
Factory film is tight and evenly applied. Loose, wrinkled, re-applied or already-open film means the device has been handled, and you have no idea by whom.
4. Build and finish
Genuine devices feel solid, with even seams and a firmly fitted mouthpiece. Rattling, sharp edges, visible glue or panels that flex under light pressure are all bad signs.
5. The taste
If a flavour you have bought before tastes noticeably thin, chemical or simply wrong, trust that. Counterfeit liquid is the part you cannot inspect before buying, and it is the part that matters most.
6. The price

7. The seller
Check for an Australian address, a working contact route and a real returns process. A seller with no way to reach a human is telling you what happens when something goes wrong. Marketplace listings from anonymous accounts are where most counterfeits move.
What to do with a suspected fake
Stop using it. You cannot verify what is in the liquid or how the cell is built, and a poorly made battery is the part that can genuinely hurt you. Dispose of it at an e-waste point and buy a replacement from a supplier that will stand behind it.
