How to Open an IGET Bar (and What Never to Do)

IGET Aus  ·  Updated 8 September 2026

Two completely different questions hide behind this search: how to unbox a new device, and how to get inside a used one. The first is easy. The second you should not do.

How to open a new IGET Bar

Slide the device out of its box and peel off the plastic film. You will normally find two silicone pieces: a cap over the mouthpiece and a plug in the base. Remove both. Then draw on the mouthpiece — the device is draw-activated, so there is nothing to switch on and no button to hold.

What is the plug on the bottom of an IGET Bar?

It is an airflow plug, fitted to stop leaking in transit. If you leave it in, the device will draw poorly or not at all, and it is the single most common reason a brand-new Bar seems dead. Pull it out and keep it if you like — refitting it is handy if you are travelling with a part-used device.

How to open an IGET Bar Pro

Identical unboxing, with one addition: the Bar Pro has a USB-C charging port in the base, so check that nothing is covering it. Some units ship with a small amount of charge, so put it on charge briefly before first use if it feels sluggish.

Never open the casing itself

The other reason people search this is to get at the battery in a spent device. Do not. These are sealed units, the lithium cell inside has no protective circuit exposed, and prying, cutting or puncturing the casing risks a short, venting or fire. There is nothing serviceable inside and nothing to gain, since the e-liquid is what is finished.

When a device is done, dispose of it at a battery or e-waste drop-off point — never in household waste or kerbside recycling, where damaged cells start fires in collection trucks. We cover this and the related charging myths in our guide on why you should never charge a sealed IGET Bar.

Opened it correctly and it still will not draw?

Work through our IGET Bar troubleshooting guide — it is usually the base plug, a too-short draw, or a device that has simply reached the end.
