A lot of Australians search for how to recharge an IGET Bar with an iPhone charger, an Android charger, or with no charger at all. We would rather answer this honestly than let people follow the videos that turn up instead.

Can you recharge an IGET Bar with an iPhone charger?

No, and not because of the brand of charger. The classic IGET Bar has no charging port at all, so there is nothing for any cable to plug into. An iPhone cable, an Android cable and a laptop cable are equally useless here — there is simply no input on the device.

Why the "recharge it without a charger" guides are dangerous

Those guides all end up in the same place: cut the casing open, strip a USB cable and touch bare wires to the battery terminals. Please do not do this.

A sealed disposable has no charging circuit. On a normal rechargeable device, that circuit controls current, stops the cell overcharging and cuts power when something goes wrong. Touching raw wires to a lithium cell bypasses all of it. The realistic outcomes are overheating, venting, leaking or fire, and it happens in your hand or on your bedside table. Damaged lithium cells can also fail hours later, after you think you got away with it.

There is also no upside. Even if the cell takes a charge, the e-liquid is still spent, so you get a hot device and no vapour.

What to do instead

If your Bar has stopped producing vapour, it is finished. Dispose of it responsibly — vapes contain a lithium battery and should never go in general household waste or a recycling bin, where they start fires in collection trucks. Use a battery or e-waste drop-off point.

Then, if you are tired of replacing sealed devices, switch to something built to be charged.

Charging rules that do apply — for the Pro and Bar Plus S3

The rechargeable models are a different story, and there a phone charger is fine within limits. Use a standard USB-C cable into a normal, low-output port: a laptop port, a power bank or an ordinary phone plug. What to avoid is the high-wattage fast-charging brick that came with a modern laptop or flagship phone, because a small vape cell is not built for that current.

Beyond that: unplug when it reads full, never charge it unattended or overnight, and do not charge a device that is wet, damaged or hot from heavy use.

Signs a vape battery has been damaged

Stop using any device immediately if it gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, if the casing swells or distorts, if it leaks, or if it smells sharp, chemical or burnt in a way that is clearly not the flavour. Put it somewhere non-flammable and away from anything that can catch, and dispose of it at an e-waste point. A cell that has been mistreated can fail well after the event, so do not put a suspect device back in your pocket.
